Under the siege and resistance in Gaza since October 7, 2023, the importance of photographic images in changing global public opinion has become apparent. These images have contributed significantly to shaping a strong awareness of the genocidal war conducted by the Israel. Photographs were prominently featured in marches in various global capitals and student gatherings.
The Gaza Grant Program for Photographic Projects targets local photographers in Gaza to document the lives of people amidst war. The grant provides an opportunity for artistic expression and raises awareness about the Palestinian cause in its field, capturing the harsh reality witnessed by photographers within Gaza. This initiative includes financial support in the form of a grant and guidance from international photographers.
Gaza Grant Goals
Documenting the daily scale of destruction in Gaza, resulting from the ongoing war since October 7, and its impact on the daily lives of individuals, families, and workers in Gaza, through various lenses.
Providing authentic photographic content that presents life and humanity in Gaza through the eyes of its residents.
Encouraging photographers to submit innovative artistic body of work that reflect the experiences of people in Gaza and delve into their human resilience.
Amplifying the Palestinian voice to the world and working to reach media and artistic platforms to disseminate images of life within Gaza amidst the ongoing war.
Condition and Details
- The grant amount is $5,000 USD
- The photography grant amount is designated for the complete execution of the photography project and not for other purposes.
- Photographers are required to submit a portfolio of their previous works in PDF format, and any application without it will not be considered.
- The deadline for submissions is March, 31st 2024
- The photographer awarded the photographic grant will receive guidance and support from international photographers during the execution of their photography project.
- There are no application fees.
- The photographer retains full ownership rights to the images submitted for the grant program.
- The Photo Humanity Grant reserves the right to utilize the participating and winning images for promotional purposes, including publication on the grant's website and social media platforms.
The Gaza Photographers Project
- The Gaza Grant provides financial support for working on a photography project consisting of a collection of images that address a theme presented by the photographer from their artistic perspective.
- The photographer submits their photography project with no fewer than 10 and no more than 20 photographs.
- Images can utilize various photography techniques, such as monochrome or color, showcasing creativity in capturing and editing the photos.
- Images that are not authentic or have been processed using artificial intelligence for addition or removal from the photo will not be accepted. RAW images will be requested during the later evaluation stage.
- The photographer provides the concept of the photographic project they are working on by answering the submission form, and any application without it will not be considered.
- All project photos must be captured after October 7, 2023.
- Photography projects that have been previously submitted to photography competitions or published in international newspapers will not be accepted.
- After receiving the grant and commencing the photography project, the winners will be informed of the final format and requirements of the photography project submission.

What we look forward to receiving in photographic projects in Gaza:
People in Gaza have been living under war since October 7, 2023. Images of war, destruction, death, and impending genocide from inside Gaza have widely spread, significantly impacting the global public opinion. For the first time, people directly witness the daily impact of war. As for Gaza, which has been isolated from its news since 2006, the world is now able to see and hear the true story of its people.
However, news of destruction alone is not enough.
Therefore, in the Gaza Photography Project Grant, we aim to show the world the resilience, patience, and lives of Gaza’s people under the war. We want to see their daily living, their struggles in providing the basic necessities of life. We want to see the Gaza children, experience the hardships of the mother as a wife and daughter, live the reality of the head of the family securing life for his family day by day, and witness the struggles for water and food. We also want to see the heroes of Gaza, persisting in their work despite the daily challenges they face. we look forward for that and more.
We want to see photographic projects and not just individual photos, where the narration of Gaza’s story becomes more authentic and impactful when expressed by the photographer in a cohesive package of images.
Our goal is to narrate the stories of daily resilience, with stories of hope, determination, patience, and faith at the center, supporting the resilience of the people in Gaza despite the harshness of life under war.
